Marriott Opening Courtyard Hotel at Philadelphia’s Navy Yard

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Marriott International announced that Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard will open in January 2014, making it the first hotel in The Navy Yard—a vibrant, mixed-use development in South Philadelphia which has experienced substantial revitalization.

The hotel will offer 172 rooms, including eight suites, and 1,800 square feet of meeting space. Environmentally conscious landscaping will compliment the LEED Certified building, which is sound engineered for quiet retreats. The hotel will provide complimentary internet and parking, as well as multiple dining options. The Bistro will feature both indoor and alfresco dining and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard will also be home to the only Starbucks open to the public within two miles. A 24-hour market rounds out the hotel’s dining amenities.

Spanning more than 1,200 acres, The Navy Yard is home to a diverse mix of office, industrial, manufacturing, research and development tenants. The mixed-use urban development includes waterfront amenities, mass transit, and great public spaces with a focus on historic preservation, sustainability, and smart growth.

“The Navy Yard is changing the business landscape of Philadelphia, and Marriott is proud to be a part of its growth,” said Derek Beckman, general manager of the Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard. “The rebirth occurring will certainly be enhanced by the addition of a hotel to serve the thousands of people who travel for business and pleasure to Philadelphia.”
