Philippe Starck Designed Villa Hotel to Break Ground in Bali

SEMINYAK, Bali—The Stairs Villa Hotel, designed by Philippe Starck is set to break ground in 2013 in the Petitenget neighborhood of Seminyak, Bali.

Taking direction from the vision of streets across the world coming together in a monolithic 65-foot-wide stairway, The Stairs is the first Starck fully-designed villa hotel in Indonesia. The project features a private village of 12 limited-edition villas with signature floor-to-roof glass facades by internationally-acclaimed artist JonOne and public areas with a café patisserie, restaurant, bar lounge, boutique, mezzanine bibliothèque, signature spa, and workout facilities.

“The Stairs, without a doubt, shall become the boiling bucket of energy, activity and intelligence of Bali, and perhaps more,” describes Starck. “The Stairs does not follow any type of trend in decoration and architecture; it is self-designed, just following the beauty of the Balinese soul and the future of the next centers of the world.”

The villa resort is a project of DeCiazini Group, a French privately-held investment, development and management firm.
