Over the past few months, employers have been attempting to adjust employees’ schedules and pay to prepare for the Dec. 1 overtime rule change. Now, the fate of the rule is up in the air, as a Texas federal judge issued a nationwide injunction on Tuesday against the regulation. The ruling is being applauded by business groups who feel the pay raises would result in fewer hours for workers. The injunction is only a temporary measure that suspends the regulation until the judge can issue a ruling. “The court’s preliminary injunction opinion sends very strong signals that the court will ultimately grant the permanent injunction, but that’s not a given,”  Hunton & Williams partner Ryan Glasgow tells LODGING.
