COMO Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Hans Jörg Meier as chief operating officer and director of COMO Hotels and Resorts, effective Jan. 19.
With over 30 years of experience in the hotel industry, Meier comes to COMO Hotels and Resorts with a varied background. He joins COMO from his current position as senior vice president at GHM Hotels; his career has spanned Europe, Southeast Asia, North Asia, and the United States. He has held leadership roles with Swissôtel Group, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, and Peninsula Hotels. During his tenure as general manager at The Legian Bali and The Setai, Miami Beach, Meier achieved numerous awards for the hotels, including the Condé Nast Gold List, The Gallivanter’s Guide Award for Excellence, Travel & Leisure World’s Best, as well as Smith Travel Research Best Performing Hotel.
Meier will take up the mantle from Kuno Fasel, COMO’s founding COO of 15 years, and will be in charge of all executive, management, and operational responsibilities for COMO Hotels and Resorts.
“We have much to benefit from Mr. Meier’s experience in both resort and urban hotels, in developed and developing countries,” said Christina Ong, founder of COMO Hotels and Resorts. “I have every confidence he will build on Mr. Fasel’s good work to steer COMO Hotels and Resorts into the future, building strong teams and delivering memorable experiences for guests.”
