JAKARTA, Indonesia—Hilton Worldwide has announced the signing of a new management agreement with PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce the Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts property in Jakarta, Indonesia. Scheduled to open in 2018, the 181-key Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will be the second property of the luxury brand’s portfolio in Indonesia.
“Today’s announcement underlines Waldorf Astoria’s commitment to strengthening and expanding our growing portfolio of landmark properties in key destinations around the world,” said John Vanderslice, global head, luxury brands, Hilton Worldwide.
Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will be located in the heart of the central business district and is approximately 32 kilometers away from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Well served by major roadways, the hotel’s immediate vicinity is home to country headquarters of multinational corporations, government offices, and embassies. In addition, the hotel offers direct access to the city’s transportation network as well as convenient access to restaurants and shopping by car.
“Opening a Waldorf Astoria hotel in a cosmopolitan capital city such as Jakarta will augment the brand’s awareness in Southeast Asia and pave the way for future landmark projects in the region,” said Andrew Clough, senior vice president, development, Middle East and Asia Pacific, Hilton Worldwide. “We are pleased to be working with an established partner like PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce our trademark of luxury to Jakarta.”
Currently set to be the tallest hotel in the city and built as a 74-story mixed-use development, Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will join the icons of the bustling city’s skyline with its striking architecture by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
The hotel will have an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, destination bar, and the signature Peacock Alley lobby lounge. It will also host meetings and events within its 2,000 square-meter ballroom, several state-of-the-art meeting rooms, and a business center. An outdoor pool, health club, and spa, as well as a library lounge will also be part of the environment.
