On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Choice Hotels International has appointed Steve Caron to vice president, head of vacation rentals. With over two decades of experience building and running vacation rentals businesses, Caron will be responsible for overseeing Choice’s strategy in the growing market. He previously led companies in the vacation rental industry such as ResortQuest and VacationRoost.com.

Here’s a look at more notable comings and goings that took place this week:

C. Scott Rohm will join Auberge Resorts Collection as chief operating officer. In his new position, Rohm will manage global operations and ensure the performance of the collection’s existing resorts and residences, as well as play a key role in curating new hotels and resorts as the company expands.

Hilton Worldwide announced the appointment of Tracy Walker as area general manager for San Diego. She will also serve as Hilton San Diego Bayfront’s general manager. Walker has over 25 years of experience with Hilton Hotels, most recently serving as general manager of Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu.

Juliana Lai has been selected as executive director of food and beverage for Marin Management Inc. Lai’s responsibilities include overseeing food and beverage operations for all Marin Management hotels and freestanding restaurants.

Noble House Hotels & Resorts has selected Christopher Preston as director of catering to The Commons Hotels. With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Preston will be responsible for overseeing events including large conferences, wedding receptions or galas, and corporate dinners or receptions in The Common Hotels.

Pablo Cogolludo has been appointed general manager of Meliá Nassau Beach All Inclusive in the Bahamas. Ernesto Hernandez has been selected as general manager of Meliá Panamá Canal in Panama for Melia Hotels International.

Madeline Hotel and Residences in Telluride, Colo. has named Robert Rhea director of food and beverage. Rhea will oversee all dining operations for the hotel and will also work with area farmers, ranchers, fishmongers, distillers, and brew masters to source local products for the hotel’s restaurants.

L.E. Hotels has recently added hospitality veteran Vivian Chambers to their team as the East Coast director of sales. In her new role, Chambers will drive strategic sales and manage the New York office as well as build brand awareness and continuing to develop client relationships.

Michael Belot has been appointed general manager—hospitality development, clubs, and golf majors, as the expansion of the H&RE Group continues. Belot’s responsibilities include growing retail shops, marketing, landscape, and maintenance, as well as continuing to manage golf majors.

Valerie Peru has been named national sales manager at Turnery Isle Miami in Avenura, Fla. With more than a decade of experience in sales for both luxury properties and civic organizations, she will be responsible for cultivating new relationships and growing current accounts, among other tasks.
