MARFA, Texas—Presidian Hotels, a full-service hotel management company based in San Antonio, Texas, announced today that it has taken over management of the distinctive Hotel Saint George located in Marfa, Texas. Presidian Chief Executive Officer Charles Leddy made the announcement.
Located in the remote West Texas town now known as a world-class cultural destination, Hotel Saint George opened its doors in April of 2016. Originally built on the footprint of the 1886 hotel of the same name, Saint George is the re-imagining of Marfa’s original grand property, which was demolished and replaced in 1929.
Today the hotel is considered a genuine Marfa endeavor, embodying the town’s authentic artistic culture and sensibility and features a renowned collection of contemporary artwork contributed by major names in the art world—including pieces from Christopher Wool, Mark Flood, and Jeff Elrod—interspersed with fixtures and furnishing from local and regional makers.
The first full service property to open in town, Saint George features modern amenities and includes 55 rooms, rustic American restaurant LaVenture helmed by Texas-native Chef Allison Jenkins, sprawling lobby and bar, and the return of the nationally celebrated Marfa Book Company. Across the street is Saint George Hall, which includes an event space for large-scale gatherings, an outdoor seating area which doubles as Marfa’s farmer’s market, and two forthcoming venues—a casual Mexican restaurant and an expansive outdoor pool and bar.
