HI USA to Give Free Stays for Service Groups

SILVER SPRINGS, Md.—Throughout January and February 2015, Hostelling International USA is inviting groups of 10 or more to participate in its fifth annual Great Hostel Give Back, which rewards guests with a free overnight stay at one of the company’s participating hostels in exchange for volunteerism.

The Great Hostel Give Back is available to qualifying groups that commit to volunteering two hours per day in the community surrounding one of the participating HI USA hostels. For each day of their service, they receive a free night’s stay, up to five nights.

“At HI USA, we believe in the power of travel to open minds, and the power of community service to open hearts,” says HI USA CEO Russ Hedge. “Above all, we believe that these experiences should be rewarding—not costly.”

Last year, over 2,000 hours of community service were made possible as a result of the Great Hostel Give Back. More than 30 hostels are hosting groups this year, including HI Austin, HI Chicago, HI New York City, HI Portland Hawthorne, and HI San Francisco Downtown.
