Nearly half of all U.S. business travelers have used an extended stay accommodation in the last year when traveling internationally, according to a study from the GBTA Foundation, the education and research branch of the Global Business Travel Association.
The “Extended Stay Accommodations: Awareness, Supply and Demand” study, created in partnership with WWStay, also revealed that millennials use extended stay accommodations more than other generations, as 72 percent of those surveyed have stayed at such accommodations for international business travel during the last 12 months. This is significantly higher than the 48 percent of generation Xers and 26 percent of baby boomers who have used extended stay accommodations during the same time frame.
Those surveyed cited fully equipped kitchens, amenities, and the residential feel of the properties as being prime reasons to choose an extended stay hotel for international travel.
