Department of Transportation Approves Flights to Havana

The travel industry continues to make strides toward a less restrictive relationship with Cuba. The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded 10 U.S. airports at least one weekly non-stop flight to the Cuban capitol of Havana. In total, 14 different daily routes have been approved, as well as one Saturday-only service. These flights will begin as early as fall 2016. The airports awarded routes are: Los Angeles, Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Houston, Newark, and Tampa. This news comes just one month after the Department of Transportation awarded six U.S. airlines flights to other Cuban cities.
