Amazon quietly launched Destinations, its travel booking service earlier this week, with hotel listings in the West and the Northeast regions of the U.S. All told, there are about 150 independent and branded hotels participating in the new service. The service is geared toward leisure travelers looking for regional getaways within driving distance. To that end the hotel listings are grouped according to featured destinations such as the Hamptons, Puget Sound, and the central coast of California. There’s been no official word from Amazon on the fees it will be charging hotels to list their rooms on its new service, but according Skift, it will allow properties great flexibility when it comes to using discounted and published rates, as well as packages and special offers.
