Female travelers from the United States and Canada have different opinions on many aspects of travel, such as social sharing and taking time off from work. But according to the annual Women in Travel survey by Best Western International, the two groups of women share similar thoughts on traveling with family and staying safe on vacation.
The study, which was revealed at the Leisure Travel Summit in Toronto on May 8, shows that marital status similarly impacts travel for both groups, with half of Canadian women and 53 percent of American female travelers reporting they began traveling more after marriage. The majority of women agree that vacationing with immediate family is more relaxing than visiting family who live elsewhere, and traveling with family is preferred over traveling with friends. For female travelers who have children with a spouse or partner, kids come first. In the survey, 61 percent of American female travelers and 43 percent of Canadian female travelers say that children’s needs are most important on a trip.
In terms of safety, the majority of both groups keep cell phones with them at all times and lock important items in a safe, though Americans are more concerned with cell phones and Canadians store items in a safe more often. For almost every question regarding security, the 18- to 25-year-old age group shows the most concern for safety.
