Red Roof’s NextGen Hits the Road

In 2011 Red Roof Inn announced that it would rollout a sleek and modern NextGen room design in its properties nationwide. The $120 million redesign was meant to give travelers more technology and a fresh, residential feel.

The rollouts are continuing to hit hotels and the new design is boosting business for the brand. Red Roof saw revenue increase almost 6 percent last year and occupancy was up nearly 2 percent. This year, the company is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and they want to make sure that people all over the country get a chance to experience the new look and feel first hand. So, Red Roof is taking over the roadway with a fully customized 18-wheel truck that houses a complete NextGen guestroom.

“We took the outfitted semi-truck on the road to raise awareness of our NextGen renovated rooms,” says Andrew Alexander, president, Red Roof Inn. “It’s a great way to deliver our newly designed rooms directly to the consumer and allow them to interact with the updated features and ultimately drive trial.”

The truck—featuring guestroom furniture, wood-like flooring, ample electrical outlets, flat screen TV’s, ergonomic chairs, and more—is making stops in Dublin, Ohio, Chicago, Ill, Toronto, Ontario, and Orlando, Fla.
