Kirk Kerkorian, Las Vegas financier who established three of the world’s largest hotel-casinos at the time, died on June 15 after a brief illness. He was 98 years old.
Known for building and opening significant modern Las Vegas properties—the original MGM Grand (now Bally’s), the current MGM Grand, and the International (now the Westgate Las Vegas)—Kerkorian’s career spanned several industries, as he operated and invested in airlines, film studios, and automakers. At the time of his death, he was the largest shareholder in MGM Resorts International.
Kerkorian is survived by his daughters and three grandchildren. Funeral service details have not yet been announced.
