Kansas City, Tenn., is on track to get its first new-build hotel since the Vista International opened in 1985, according to the Kansas City Star.
The development will take over the former Prestige Motors building at 1535 Baltimore Ave. in the Crossroads Arts District of the city. Chartwell Hospitality will break ground on the dual-branded hotel (see also: “Dual-Branded Hotels Present New Opportunities“) early next year. The 190,000 square-foot hotel will include a Courtyard by Marriott and a Residence Inn, which will share a swimming pool, conference center, and fitness room.
“We think the downtown market is ripe for a new hotel,” Will Schaedle, Chartwell acquisitions and development manager, told the Kansas City Star. “We’re happy to be the developer.
The hotel is expected to open in 2015. More at the Kansas City Star.
