Three Hospitality Groups Among Top 50 Diverse Companies

Three hospitality groups were named among the nation’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity by the publication DiversityInc. Marriott International ranked eighth, Wyndham Worldwide ranked 24th, and Hilton Inc. ranked 30th out of 50 top U.S. companies representing a range of industries.

DiversityInc tracks and analyzes data from top U.S. companies, and compiles the annual list based on criteria related to workforce breakdown, talent recruitment and development, leadership accountability, and supplier diversity.

Marriott International has been on the Top 50 list since 2003, and moved up one spot in 2017. According to the publication, the ranking is due to the company’s commitment to “TakeCare,” an initiative to ensure associates’ physical, emotional, career, and financial wellbeing. Marriott’s other diversity initiatives include a Global Diversity and Inclusion Council and Emerging Leader Program.

Wyndham Worldwide has been included on the list for the fifth consecutive year, and moved up three spots in 2017. DiversityInc credits the company’s view of a diverse workforce as a competitive business advantage, as well as its Global Diversity Council, Hispanic Associate Development Program, and veteran recruitment initiative.
