Thank Your Lucky Stars

General managers, housekeepers, maintenance staff, concierges, and all the other employees whose leadership and initiative exemplifies what it means to be in hospitality were honored at last month’s AH&LA Stars of the Industry awards competition in Atlanta, Ga. But while these employees were the ones with the trophies, everyone nominated got a little extra workplace pride, confidence, and the sense that what they do really does make a difference.

The next entry deadline isn’t until mid-February, but now is the time to start paying attention. Maybe you can’t give a raise or promotion, but who can you honor with public recognition? Who do you want to know how much you appreciate his or her initiative to go above and beyond?

The awards are given for individual accomplishments, as well as events and programs the hotel as a whole leads. And the best part is there’s no cost for entries and you can enter as many nominations as you like. However, eligibility is strictly limited to AH&LA members.

Learn more about the Stars of the Industry awards at www.ahla.com/stars, and be sure to check when your state’s hotel association has its awards program, because you might need to send your nominations through it.

Let your star employees know how lucky you are to have them by nominating them for this prestigious award.

AH&LA would like to thank Cintas and HD Supply for their generous support and helping make this program possible.
