Semiahmoo Resort, Golf, & Spa Hires New GM

andrewBLAINE, WASH.–Semiahmoo Resort, Golf, & Spa, a seaside resort located on the Semiahmoo Spit in Blaine, Wash., has hired Mark Andrew as general manager. In his new position, Andrew will be responsible for and directly involved with the daily operations of Semiahmoo Resort, Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club, Loomis Trail Golf Club, Pierside Kitchen, Packers Oyster Bar, Great Blue Heron Grill, and Loomis Trail Bar & Grille.

Andrew joins Semiahmoo Resort with more than 25 years of senior management experience in team development, sales and marketing, and successfully implementing transformations. Andrew is a recipient of the Meeting Professionals International President’s Award for his work as interim CEO advancing performance and cohesion among 20,000 members and 68 chapters during a period of rapid transition.

Andrew started his career with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in 1973 as a dishwasher, holding several positions throughout his career. For more than 11 years, he was the general manager of three Hyatt hotels in the United States and Canada, during which time he re-established the Hyatt Regency Vancouver as a city centerpiece at the same time that civic focus shifted toward the convention center.

Andrew also worked as the general manager of the Westin Bayshore Resort & Marina in Vancouver, B.C., handling the day-to-day operations as well as leading the re-opening of the expansion and newly remodeled resort and conference center. This resulted in the Westin Bayshore being a leader in guest services and an icon for the Vancouver hospitality industry.

Most recently, Andrew has served as the regional vice president Northeast and general manager at Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown. Prior to that, Andrew was in Vancouver, B.C. where he served as the chair of Tourism Vancouver and assisted in Vancouver’s initial bid for the 2010 Olympics.
