On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Janis Cannon has been appointed senior vice president of upscale brands at Choice Hotels International. With more than 25 years of experience, she will lead the growth strategy for Cambria Hotels & Suites and the Ascend Collection. She comes to Choice from IHG, where she served as vice president and global brand leader for its upscale portfolio.

Here’s a look at more notable comings and goings that took place in hospitality this week:

Waldorf Astoria Orlando has appointed Sean McCarron as general manager. McCarron has more than 15 years of experience in luxury hotel management and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel.

Oliver Beckett has been appointed executive chef of the Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C., scheduled to open in September 2016. Beckett, a 27-year hospitality veteran, will be responsible for overseeing food and beverage operations at the former Old Post Office-turned-luxury hotel, including in-room dining, banquets, and catering.

The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa has appointed Julie Tainter as the new director of sales and marketing. With over three decades of experience, Tainter will collaborate with the resort’s sales, marketing, and public relations teams to drive sales and exceed revenue goals for the Arizona property.

Dr. Rajamannar Chinnaraju has been named spa director of Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, BVI. Chinnaraju will be responsible for overseeing the menu of services, daily operations, and staff, with more than seven years of experience in spa and wellness menu design and management of five-star hotel and resort spas.

Hilton Worldwide announced the appointment of Dale Johnson as the general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Campbell-Pruneyard Plaza. Johnson previously served as assistant general manager of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Memphis and executive housekeeper of Embassy Suites by Hilton Indianapolis.

John Flaherty has been appointed the new vice president of facilities and engineering for Pechanga Resort & Casino, Temecula. Flaherty previously worked with Marriott Hotels for 20 years, renovating and maintaining properties from Massachusetts to Washington, D.C.

Lansdowne Resort and Spa, a Destination Hotel, has announced the appointment of Michael Stephens as the new managing director. Stephens has over three decades of hospitality management experience and will be responsible for curating the Lansdowne experience and guest satisfaction.

Paige Guiliano will serve as the new sales manager for Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach. Guiliano will be responsible for developing and implementing effective sales strategies to attract new leisure and group travel clients.

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf & Resort Spa has announced the appointment of Mark Celestin as the resort’s new director of rooms. In his new role, Celestin will oversee all aspects of the Rooms Division operation, including housekeeping, front desk management, the bell stand, and concierge services.
