On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Trump Hotels has selected Mark Hawthorn as chief accounting officer for the international luxury hospitality company. Hawthorn brings more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and a specialty in hospitality and international operations to the hotel brand.

Here’s a look at more notable comings and goings that took place this week:

Interstate Hotels & Resorts has announced the promotion of Aaron Greenman as executive vice president of acquisitions and development for Europe. Previously, Greenman served as Interstate’s senior vice president of acquisitions and development, and in his new role he will continue to oversee all business development in Europe, including Russia.

Thomas Klein, regional vice president of Fairmont Hotels for the past nine years and general manager of the flagship Fairmont San Francisco, will leave the brand at the end of this month. He will take a position as chief operating officer of Canyon Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas.

Waterton, a U.S. real estate investor and operator, has announced the appointment of Nadine Thompson as area director of sales for two hotels in west suburban Boston: Courtyard by Marriott Boston Marlborough and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston-Westborough. In addition, Scott Smith will serve as general manager of the Boston-Westborough property, which is currently undergoing a renovation.

Christof Pignet has been promoted to general manager of Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach. Pignet previously served as hotel manager of the South Florida resort, and in his new role will oversee all aspects of the resort and condominium operations, guest experiences, and employee enrichment.

Omni Hotels & Resorts has selected Eamon O’Brien as director of sales and marketing for the Omni Louisville Hotel. O’Brien will oversee all sales and marketing efforts, including managing, developing, and implementing sales and marketing strategies that drive group, catering, business ad leisure travel revenue for the 30-story luxury resort.

Lansdowne Resort, A Destination Hotel has announced a new leadership team for the resort’s 25th anniversary. Nazgol Toumadi will join the team as the new executive meeting manager with a decade of experience working with associations and government affiliated entities in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Shelley Simpson was chosen to be Lansdowne’s new conference planning manager after previously working as the events and marketing manager at DC Prime Steakhouse and the events manager at Keswick Vineyards. Erica Schlatter joins the team as the new group sales manager and Laurie Williams comes to Lansdowne as the new catering sales manager. Barbara Mullen is the new national sales manager for Destination Hotels with over a decade of hospitality experience working for Hyatt, Marriott New York Downtown, Trump National Los Angeles, and The Gores Group as a sales force consultant. Finally, Kristin Frye has been selected as the new national sales managers for Destination Hotels at Lansdowne Resort, having previously worked as a sales manager for Evans Hotels and Eden Roc Miami Beach.

The New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer has been chosen by Montage Hotels & Resorts as the brand’s literary ambassador. Montage will integrate Meltzer’s Ordinary People Change the World into Paintbox, children’s programming across five hotels and resorts.

David Martinez has been appointed the new director of sales and marketing for Hyatt at Olive 8 and Grand Hyatt Seattle. Martinez is a 16-year veteran within the Hyatt family, previously serving as director of sales, marketing and events in Waikiki, Hawaii, director of sales and marketing in Jersey City, N.J. and corporate director of sales in Chicago.

Best Western Hotel & Resorts Phoenix has announced the promotions of Tammy Lucas to vice president of marketing and Bruce Wienberg to vice president of operations. Both Lucas and Wienberg will play important roles as Best Western reveals a new look and name for the iconic brand.
