On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Summit Hotel Properties has announced that Kerry W. Boekelheide, founder and executive chairman, stepped down from his role effective July 30. He founded The Summit Group in 1991 and served as chief executive officer until 2010. He leaves his position to devote more time to interests outside of the business. Thomas W. Storey, a director since February 2011 and current chairman of the company’s corporate nominating and governance committee, assumed the role of chairman of the board on July 30.

Here’s a look at more significant comings and goings that took place in hospitality this week:

SkyTouch Technology has named Jonah Paransky its new chief executive officer. He brings more than 20 years of experience in B2B software general management, product management, and marketing. He most recently served as vice president and managing director of product management at LexisNexis for the company’s Business of Law software solutions and Managed Technology Services group.

Mark Yanke has been appointed general manager of Hotel Emma, a culinary-centric boutique hotel in San Antonio, Texas. He joins the team with 30 years of experience in the industry, having most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Redstone Companies Hospitality.

Capella Marigot Bay Resort & Marina, Saint Lucia has named Daniel Canas general manager. He previously worked at Garcha Boutique Hotels, where he opened their first Chilean property.

FelCor Lodging Trust has named Thomas C. Hendrick executive vice president and chief investment officer. He has been a member of FelCor’s board of directors since 2007, and will leave that position when he assumes his new role with the company. He succeeds Michael A. DeNicola, who will remain with FelCor through Jan. 1 to help with the transition.

Belmond announced the appointment of Philippe Cassis to executive vice president, chief operating officer. He most recently served as chief executive officer of Sun Resorts.

Marc Bauer has joined One Ocean Resort & Spa in Jacksonville, Fla., as general manager. He has overseen a number of rebranding, renovation, and development projects as general manager at properties such as Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville, N.C., and Hotel Duval in Tallahassee, Fla.

Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, Calif., has named Kevin Geanides its new general manager. Bringing more than 18 years of experience, Geanides most recently worked at Little Palm Island Resort & Spa in Little Torch Key, Fla., where he served as resort manager.

21c Museum Hotels has appointed Sarka Takovich general manager of its new Lexington, Ky., property. She has been with the 21c team since 2012 and was a member of the 21c Bentonville opening team.

Warwick Denver Hotel has appointed two new managers. Joseph Owen has been named food and beverage manager, while Megan Tierney has been named catering sales manager. Owen was previously assistant general manager of Lower48 Kitchen in Denver. Tierney previously served as personal vacation advisor and event specialist at Inspirato with American Express.
