Modus Hotels Completes Transformation of Avenue Suites in Washington

WASHINGTON—Modus Hotels, the Washington DC-based collection of boutique hotels, announced that the transformation of its 10th property, “Avenue Suites,” in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. , is complete. Acquired in an off-market transaction in 2011, the repositioning of the hotel has taken nine months.

The substantial investment in the renovation of the hotel formerly known as Washington Suites Georgetown includes a new limestone façade and entryway, redesigned lobby and secluded patio, which is part of the exclusive A Bar, a lounge overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue. Perched on Pennsylvania Ave., Avenue Suites features 124 studios and one-bedroom suites, which average at 650 square feet. Each apartment-sized suite also has a fully-equipped kitchen.

“This is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ hotel in a superior location,” noted Aaron Katz, president and CEO of Modus Hotels, in an announcement. “There are plenty of hotels in Georgetown and on Pennsylvania Avenue, but no other hotel has the combination of a coveted address, Metro access and spacious, affordably-priced, executive-style accommodations. It’s the ideal combination of style, comfort and practicality.”

The new hotel now joins the Modus Hotels’ collection of properties operating in Washington, D.C., Chicago and Philadelphia, including The River Inn, The Quincy, One Washington Circle Hotel, The George Washington University Inn, Virginian Suites Arlington, Colony South Hotel and Conference Center, and The Windsor Suites.
