March Madness a Boon for Milwaukee Hotels

With eight teams traveling to the Milwaukee area for the first rounds of the NCAA tournament at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, local hotels are scrambling to make arrangements. The tournament draw was announced Sunday night. Those teams coming to the area include the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Michigan, Arizona State University, and the University of Texas. Tim Smith, GM of the InterContinental Milwaukee, told the Milwaukee Business Journal that the NCAA toured hotels last year in anticipation of the event. The InterContinental, located a few blocks from the Bradley Center, will host a couple of big-name teams: Wisconsin and Michigan, Smith said. Each team will take up about 40 rooms for players, coaches, and other people traveling with the team. The hotel will be booked solid starting Tuesday night through Saturday night, he added. The Milwaukee Marriott Downtown is hosting the University of Texas, GM Jeff Hess said. Read more over at the Milwaukee Business Journal.
