Hospitality Recruitment on the Rise

The U.S. hotel industry had a record-breaking year in 2014, selling more rooms and generating more rooms revenue than ever before. This growth will demand new talent entering the hospitality field. According to the Hcareers Q3 2014 Hospitality Jobs Snapshot, recruitment is on the rise.

Hospitality employers in the United States posted 53,271 job openings in Q3 2014, equal to 75 percent of all Hcareers job postings. These numbers appear to be on trend with hiring data reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which indicated that the nation added 69,000 leisure and hospitality jobs in Q3.

Hotel/resort management jobs with quarter-over-quarter increases in terms of jobs posted by U.S. employers included: destination/event manager (75 percent), director of operations (37 percent), administration (34 percent), assistant general manager (31 percent), marketing/PR (25 percent), catering (24 percent), rooms director (15 percent), sous chef (14 percent), executive chef (13 percent), revenue management (10 percent), and front office/guest services (10 percent).

The five most in-demand U.S. hotel/resort non-management jobs in the third quarter as indicated by quantity of Hcareers employer postings were: housekeeper (5,221), front desk (3,267), administration (3,089), cook (1,866), and maintenance (1,618).
