TORONTO—A new Delta Hotels and Resorts property is being built in Waterloo that will showcase a reinvigorated brand. Slated to open in summer 2013, the Delta Waterloo Hotel will become the city’s first 4-star upscale, full service hotel after a $36 million investment.
The Delta network of hotels and resorts is undergoing an extensive brand repositioning. All Delta properties are being built or renovated with modern design and tech-enabled guest spaces in the Canadian hotel marketplace. The Delta Waterloo, as well as Delta’s 45-store flagship Toronto hotel scheduled for opening in 2014, will be reflective of the newly repositioned brand.
Delta’s current property in Kitchener will no longer be operated under the Delta brand effective March 31, 2013.
The Delta Waterloo will be part of the 14 acre Barrelyards development project which will consist of the nine-story hotel, a 200,000 square foot office complex, luxury residential buildings, condominium towers, assisted living residences, and townhomes.

The hotel has been designed as a boutique-style hotel with high tech design elements to reflect the needs and expectations of business travelers. The property design has embraced walnut, stainless steel, and other finishes in its public spaces and guestroom suites.
The Delta Waterloo will offer services and amenities including 195 ModeRoom guestrooms and suites. The hotel will also boast a full service restaurant and lounge, a fitness facility with a pool, a business center, and approximately 8,000 square feet of meeting and conference space including a 3,000 square foot ballroom.
The Delta Waterloo will be managed by Delta Hotels and Resorts, and is owned and being developed by Auburn Developments Incorporated, a progressive and multi-faceted land development company.
Delta Hotels and Resorts currently has 10 properties in Ontario and recently announced an additional four new hotels slated to open in the province by 2014 in markets including Toronto, Kingston, Thunder Bay and now Waterloo. Delta Hotels and Resorts currently has 40 properties across Canada.
