Cambria Hotels to Open First Locations in Iowa and Georgia

Choice Hotels recently signed several agreements to develop new Cambria Hotels across the United States, including in Southwest Washington, D.C.; Bettendorf, Iowa; Downtown Savannah, Ga.; Ocean City, Md.; and Bremerton, Wash. The Cambria Hotels in Bettendorf and Savannah will mark the brand’s entry into Iowa and Georgia, respectively.

 

Cambria Hotel Bettendorf, Iowa

Choice Hotels signed an agreement with Frontier Hospitality Group to develop the first Cambria hotel in Iowa. The four-story, 108-room Cambria Hotel Bettendorf is scheduled to open in 2019. The upscale property will include a fitness center, multi-function meeting space, and contemporary onsite dining with local and grab-and-go offerings.

Located near the Quad City International Airport, the hotel will be part of the 75-acre TBK Bank Sport Complex BettPlex and High Five family entertainment center. Major corporations in the area include Rock Island Arsenal, Deere & Company (John Deere), HyVee, Kraft Foods, and Oscar Mayer, and nearby attractions include Tax Slayer Center, Rhythm City Casino, and Isle Casino.

Cambria Hotel Savannah Historic District, Georgia

Choice Hotels and HOS Management recently broke ground at the future home of the Cambria Hotel Savannah Historic District. The 103-room, six-story property is slated to open in 2019. The Cambria Hotel Savannah Historic District will have a rooftop bar, locally-inspired interior and exterior designs, local art, multi-function meeting space, a business center, a fitness center, and onsite dining with local and grab-and-go offerings.

Savannah is home to the largest National Historic Landmark District in the United States and includes the Savannah Historic District, the Savannah Victorian Historic District, and many parks. The property is just minutes from shopping, dining, museums, and entertainment attractions, including the Savannah Civic Center and the SCAD Museum of Art, and is in close proximity to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.

“The Cambria Hotel Savannah Historic District will be the first Cambria hotel in my home state of Georgia, and I cannot think of a better city to introduce the brand than in Savannah,” Janis Cannon, senior vice president, upscale brands at Choice Hotels, says. “Full of rich history and culture, Savannah attracts millions of business and leisure travelers each year and the Cambria hotel groundbreaking helps us plant our legacy in the epicenter of it all.”

HOS Management is a second-generation hospitality and development group with more than 30 years working in Savannah. “The groundbreaking of this hotel is an exciting moment as we begin to bring the Cambria Hotel Savannah Historic District to life,” Kris Patel, second-generation partner and CFO at HOS Management, says. “Savannah is a city steeped in rich tradition, and guests will truly enjoy the upscale amenities that the hotel offers, as well as the convenience to everything in the area.”

 

Cambria Hotel Southwest D.C.

Choice Hotels signed an agreement with Koucar Management, LLC to develop a new Cambria hotel in Southwest Washington, D.C. Located at 69 Q Street SW, the 154-room, nine-story property will be the second Cambria in the District, joining the Cambria Hotel Washington, D.C. Convention Center.

Scheduled to open in 2020, the Cambria Hotel Southwest D.C. will have a rooftop bar that can accommodate large corporate and social gatherings, 2,500 square feet of multi-function meeting space, a fitness center, parking, and onsite dining. The Cambria Hotel Southwest D.C. will be located near Navy Yard Metro Station; Yards Park mixed-use development, which includes retail stores, fine-dining, offices, and luxury residential lofts; and Nationals Park, Bardo Brewery, and Audi Field, which will open this year.

“The development of the Cambria Hotel Southwest D.C. showcases our focus on expanding the Cambria brand to key urban markets throughout the country. Washington, D.C. is celebrated for its growing population, government and corporate activity, and tourism, making it the ideal home for multiple Cambria properties,” says Mark Shalala, vice president, development, upscale brands at Choice Hotels.

Chris Kouza, owner of Koucar Management, LLC, is a licensed attorney who has been building and developing projects for more than 10 years, including owning and managing 26 hotels.

 

Cambria Hotel Ocean City, Maryland

Choice, PiNNacle Hospitality Group, and The Wankawala Organization broke ground on the 133-room Cambria Hotel Ocean City. The property will open in summer of 2019.

The hotel’s guestrooms will have private balconies overlooking the Isle of Wight Bay, an indoor/outdoor infinity pool, poolside cabanas, tiki bar, outdoor fire pits, local art collections, 2,200 square feet of multi-function meeting space, a business center, a fitness center, outdoor recreational area, onsite dining, and a rooftop restaurant/bar with a panoramic view of Assateague Island, Isle of Wight Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is steps from the beach and boardwalk.

PiNNacle Hospitality is an owner, operator, and developer of hotels with a primary focus in the coastal region of Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. This is the fourth time Choice Hotels and The Wankawala Organization have collaborated to open a Choice property.

 

Cambria Hotel Bremerton, Washington

Cambria Hotel Bremerton, Washington
Choice signed an agreement with Sound West Group to develop a Cambria hotel in Bremerton, Wash. The five-story, 121-room hotel will be part of a mixed-use waterfront development on Marina Square and is slated to open in 2019.

The Cambria Hotel Bremerton will have a rooftop deck with 180-degree views of the Puget Sound, multi-function meeting space, a fitness center, a pool and spa, underground parking, and onsite dining. The new upscale property is adjacent to the Bremerton Marina and the Kitsap Conference Center. Bremerton is home to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, a ferry ride away from downtown Seattle, and within driving distance of Gold Mountain, Trophy Lake, and McCormick Woods golf courses.
