Best Western Acquires Sweden Hotels

Phoenix, Ariz.—Best Western Hotels & Resorts announced that the company has added to its global portfolio Sweden Hotels–one of Scandinavia’s largest hotel groups. As a result of the acquisition, Best Western Hotels & Resorts is now the largest hotel brand in Sweden, totaling 135 properties across the country, leading with 55 more properties than its next competitor.

Sweden Hotels has been operating in Scandinavia for more than 40 years. The move will add 59 properties to the growing Best Western portfolio, expanding its Best Western Rewards program and the company’s new brand, SureStay Hotel Group.

The partnership with Best Western will provide hotels in Scandinavia with support to meet the needs of contracted corporate business. Sweden Hotels will be able to tap into Best Western’s distribution, customer relations, marketing, and purchasing systems. Johan Kukacka, CEO of Best Western Hotels & Resorts, Scandinavia, commented: “We have already started the discussion with individual Sweden Hotels owners regarding the integration and they are excited about the new opportunities that are being presented.”

Best Western continues to expand at an accelerated pace. Since December, the company has welcomed 56 hotels internationally, and its global portfolio today stands at more than 4,200 hotels in more than 100 countries.
