10 Noteworthy Hotel Openings: Winter 2016

Though 2016 has just begun, it has already seen a number of interesting new and rebranded hotels join the market. Here are 10 noteworthy openings that recently took place:

Axiom Hotel: The 152-room boutique hotel, managed by Kokua Hospitality and designed by Stonehill & Taylor, opened in downtown San Francisco in January. The hotel will feature custom murals from local street artists 1AM and an art collection in the library area located near the lobby.

Holiday Inn Houston: InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the opening of the newly converted Holiday Inn located in Houston, Texas. The 212-room property includes a second floor terrace overlooking Houston’s downtown skyline near the Theater District and the George R. Brown Convention Center, as well as a fully-equipped fitness center and an on-site restaurant and bar, the Burger Theory.

DoubleTree North Charleston Convention Center: This 142-room Hilton property is located two miles from Charleston International Airport and 10 miles from historic downtown Charleston. The hotel includes 4,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, including a 1,600-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate up to 120 people.

Embassy Suites Kansas City Olathe: This newly-built, 200-suite hotel, developed by Heart of America Group, is situated in Olathe’s business and retail district, within minutes of some of the area’s most popular attractions. Additionally, the property includes the J Bar Restaurant, featuring a rooftop outdoor terrace with signature mixology cocktails, craft beers, and wine.

Hotel Indigo: This New York hotel on the Lower East Side is a joint project between InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Brack Capital Real Estate. The opening marked IHG’s 5,000th hotel worldwide.

Cambria Hotel & Suites Times Square: Operated by Concord Hospitality, the 81,000-square-foot, 196-room New York property is located in the center of Manhattan’s central business district, neighboring some of New York’s most iconic locations, including Times Square, the Theater District, Central Park, and the Empire State Building.

Aloft Asuncion: Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the introduction of its Aloft brand to the heart of Paraguay. The 120-room hotel features a rooftop terrace with 360-degree views of the city, a splash pool, fully equipped gym and full service restaurant.

Renaissance Montreal: Renovated for Renaissance by Groupe Daca and managed by Urgo Hotels Canada, the 142-room property features street art by local artist, Alexandre Veilleux, live D.J. entertainment, and cocktail creations by master mixologist Lawrence Piccard.

Home2 Suites Champaign/Urbana: Managed by Horve Hospitality Management and part of Hilton Worldwide’s industry-first All Suites portfolio, the 104-suite hotel is the first Home2 Suites by Hilton property in Illinois. The property offers guests all suite accommodations, including a fully equipped kitchen, modular furniture, and a complimentary breakfast that features more than 400 potential combinations.

Hilton West Palm Beach: The 12-story convention hotel, which opened recently in West Palm Beach, features 400 guestrooms and 43 suites. The luxury hotel and resort was designed by Miami-based architectural firm Nicholas Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates and Dallas-based interior design firm Looney and Associates.
