One of the world’s leading hotel franchisors, Wyndham hotel group has more than 8,000 properties all over the globe. This year has been full of major moves for the mega-franchisor. At the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference in June, Wyndham announced the launch of its first soft brand, The Trademark Hotel Collection. Designed for independent entrepreneurs, the brand invites hoteliers who operate landmark hotels with a three- or four-star rating to maintain their individual spirit while taking advantage of Wyndham’s scale, distribution, services, and loyalty program. At launch the brand’s pipeline includes more than 50 hotels and interested owners of both existing properties and new construction opportunities in top urban markets around the globe. Trademark was the 19th brand to join the Wyndham portfolio, but it wasn’t the only new kid on the block for long. In July, Wyndham announced intentions to acquire the AmericInn hotel brand and its management company, Three Rivers Hospitality. AmericInn will become the 20th brand in Wyndham’s portfolio, and, according to Wyndham CEO, Geoff Ballotti, is a very advantageous addition to the company. “It’s a really strong, really clean, really well-run brand with a great service ethos and a great culture,” he told LODGING in a phone interview. The acquisition also gives Wyndham an opportunity to build relationships with developers in the Midwest region who have experience and insight into that market.
