Wyndham Earns Listing on Dow Jones Sustainability Index

PARSIPPANY, N.J.—Wyndham Worldwide announced it has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the first time. The company is one of three hospitality companies, and the only one in North America, recognized in the hotels, resorts and cruise line segment.

The S&P Dow Jones Indices are one of the most recognized sustainability performance rating tools, with the Sustainability Index identifying leaders in the areas of sustainable economic, environmental, and social performance. Wyndham Worldwide was recognized in particular for its Risk and Crisis Management, Human Capital Development, and Environmental programs.

“Our inclusion on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is a great reflection of our commitment to our core values, which enable us to consistently deliver great results,” said Stephen P. Holmes, chairman and chief executive officer, Wyndham Worldwide. “We are proud to be included on such an esteemed Index, but more importantly, excited that we continue to see the impact our sustainability and corporate social responsibility efforts have in our operating performance and value created for our shareholders.”

With supporting environmental initiatives as a strategic focus for the past six years, Wyndham Worldwide’s sustainability practices are created and driven by the Company’s Wyndham Green program, which works to deliver “triple bottom line” results for its people, the planet, and profits. Wyndham Green aims to drive leadership in the industry, encourage engagement among the company’s key stakeholders and provide the mechanism to turn innovative ideas into achievable results. This focus enabled Wyndham Worldwide to reduce its operationally controlled asset water usage globally by 5 percent per square foot, reduce its carbon emissions by nearly 12 percent per square foot in 2012, and increase its sustainable suppliers to 25 percent in 2012.

“We are proud to be recognized once again for our work in sustainability, which is the result of our collective progress, achievement and commitment to corporate sustainability,” said Faith Taylor, senior vice president, sustainability and innovation, Wyndham Worldwide. “This is an incredible accomplishment and a true honor not only for Wyndham Green, but also for Wyndham Worldwide. Our sustainability program continues to be successful because of the innovative collaboration among our associates, franchisees, suppliers, business and community partners who have helped create and grow our shared vision.”
