The Gregory to Debut in NYC’s Herald Square This Spring

NEW YORK—The Gregory, a new 132-room boutique hotel located on West 35th Street in New York City’s Herald Square, was announced today for a spring 2015 opening. This is the second collaboration between Interstate Hotels & Resorts, hotel Asset Value Enhancement (hotelAVE), and Meadow Partners, the team behind The Renwick, which is launching this summer on East 40th Street in New York City.

The hotel first opened as The Gregorian in 1903 to cater to the overflow of well-to-do guests checking into the original Waldorf-Astoria, its former sister property that is now the site of the Empire State Building. Following a complete renovation, today’s Gregory will pay homage to its old world past while delivering an experience tailored to the needs of young, cultured travelers.

The intricacies of the original architecture, including high ceilings and mosaic tile detailing, will be infused with modern amenities to create a timeless yet fresh aesthetic. New York-based design firm Bill Rooney Studio has been tapped to bring the project to life, creating inviting interiors outfitted with décor elements that channel the elegance of 1940s New York City street style. Each guestroom will feature a rich color palette and vintage-inspired accents.

“We are incredibly excited to expose future guests of The Gregory to a new, higher energy New York City hotel and the timing for its launch couldn’t be more perfect,” said General Manager Deborah Alarcon. “Nowhere else in the city will there be a more authentic and comfortably cool place to sleep, work, and play.”

The Gregory’s interactive lobby space, featuring seating clusters and a fireplace, will be designed as a gathering place for guests and locals.
