The Gates Hotel South Beach DoubleTree Opens

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. and McLEAN, Va.—DoubleTree by Hilton, one of Hilton’s 13 market-leading brands, today announces the opening of The Gates Hotel South Beach—a DoubleTree by Hilton. The completely reconstructed property, which is owned by Rockpoint Group and Highgate and managed by Highgate, brings 235 upscale rooms, contemporary style, and upscale services to the heart of South Beach.

“Travelers expect glamour and style when visiting South Beach, and The Gates Hotel South Beach—a DoubleTree by Hilton delivers a sophisticated, yet relaxing, experience reflective of its colorful surroundings,” said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. “Beginning with a warm chocolate chip cookie welcome upon arrival, guests will be treated to the world-class service and comforts our brand is known for throughout their stay.”

The new lifestyle boutique hotel offers guests an authentic and unconventional resort-style setting, just across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. Convenient to all that South Beach has to offer, it is walking distance to Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, and the area’s restaurants, nightlife, entertainment, and shopping, and just a short drive to all of South Florida’s best attractions.

Built on the foundation of the 1954 Ankara Motel, The Gates Hotel South Beach—a DoubleTree by Hilton maintains the historic, art deco-inspired architecture on the exterior, while also breathing new life into a reconstructed interior with contemporary elements. Components of the hotel that have retained their original form include the classic brick walls of the Historic Wing and refurbished Ankara Motel signage.

Inside, modern design takes center stage as a translucent staircase welcomes guests into the two-story atrium with custom leather wrapping and a light fixture inspired by drum cymbals. The welcoming, laid-back atmosphere encourages guests to explore their surroundings or simply relax in any one of the hotel’s finely-crafted spaces.

Each of the modern, beautifully-furnished guestrooms—including 17 suites—is designed with a vibrant color scheme and upscale in-room features. All accommodations are non-smoking and include plush beds, featuring fresh, white duvets, and crisp linens; a spacious and clutter-free work desk with an ergonomic desk chair; and an in-room refrigerator, laptop-size safe, and coffeemaker. Guests will be able to enjoy the Florida sunshine through oversized windows, and some guestrooms include balconies. Bathrooms feature granite countertops, extra storage space, walk-in showers, and backlit vanities.

The Gates Hotel South Beach—a DoubleTree by Hilton features a lively lobby area with bar, a hub for guests and locals to mingle over drinks. The bar seamlessly transitions to the outside pool, where guests will find private daybeds nestled between the pool and lake, all under a canopy of strawberry guava trees. For guests’ convenience, solar-powered charging stations are also available outside. Other onsite features include free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, 24-hour business center, 24-hour state-of-the-art-fitness center, courtesy transportation to/from the beach, beach chairs, and towels, and guest bicycles. Additionally, an onsite concierge desk is available, as are three meeting rooms ideal for small meetings, events, and social gatherings.

Guests can dine on-property at The Continental, a popular eatery, which is adjacent to the hotel. The restaurant features a menu of eclectic global dishes, many designed to share, amidst a modern dining room and tropical patio. Also a great spot to grab a drink, the bar has a flat-screen television, and offers a creative cocktail list with a focus on curated spirits, fresh ingredients, and tiki-inspired recipes.

The hotel provides guests with a full complement of services and DoubleTree by Hilton brand amenities, including an assortment of gourmet in-room tea and coffee offerings by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and a refreshing array of the Aroma Actives Essentials natural skin and body care line.

“The opening of this hotel provides guests with the perfect retreat, whether visiting for business or pleasure,” said Beres Wall, general manager, The Gates Hotel South Beach—a DoubleTree by Hilton. “With our upscale amenities, sizable accommodations and close proximity to Ocean Drive, our hotel aims to be the long-term smart choice for travelers.”
