Starwood, Marriott Introduce Apple Watch Apps

Coinciding with the launch of Apple Watch, Starwood and Marriott have released apps to help guests coordinate travel plans.

Members of Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program can have access to special features through the SPG App. The SPG App offers state-aware technology that allows guests to receive the hotel address and directions in the default and local language upon arrival to the destination. While it is currently available in English, the App will feature Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish as well. The app provides transportation options with estimated costs for different methods. Reservation details and the confirmation number are highlighted in the app to help the check-in process run smoothly. Additionally, after registering for SPG Keyless, Apple Watch will send guests their room number and will act as a hotel key at SPG Keyless-enabled sites.

Guests looking to stay on top of their Starpoints can access loyalty program account information from the app and view when the next status level has been reached. The app will also display the hotel name, photo and stay dates for up to four upcoming visits to Starwood.

Similarly, members of the Marriott Rewards program can access Marriott’s app for check-in and checkout, automatic receipt of room ready alerts, booking, reservation information, and directions to the hotel.
