Private Sector Adds 281,000 Jobs in June

Private sector employment increased by 281,000 jobs from May to June, according to the June ADP National Employment Report.

“The June jobs number is a welcome boost. The number of construction jobs added was particularly encouraging, representing the highest total in that industry since February of 2006,” said Carlos Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer of ADP.

Private-sector small business employment (1-49 employees) increased by 117,000 jobs. This accounts for 42 percent of employment gains across all payroll size groups. Within small businesses, 56 percent of the employment growth contribution was associated with companies having between 1-19 employees.

Private-sector franchise jobs increased by 33,330, according to the ADP National Franchise Report. “In June, franchises added the most jobs for any month since December 2013,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and head of the ADP Research Institute. “The total number of jobs added was up over 50 percent from May.”
