Plaza Construction Breaks Ground for AC Hotel in Miami

MIAMI, Fla.—Plaza Construction was awarded the construction contract and has broken ground for the AC Hotel by Marriott in Miami Beach, the first all-new AC Hotel in the United States being developed by Miami-based Robert Finvarb Companies and designed by Miami-based Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design.

The seven-story, 150-room AC Hotel will offer upscale amenities, is across from the beach, and is just minutes from Lincoln Road and South Beach’s Ocean Drive. The 153,000 square foot mixed-use facility will also offer more than 4,000 square feet of retail space. The project is slated for completion in early 2015.

Proud recipient of the Contractor of the Year 2013 Award from the American Institute of Architects Miami Chapter, Plaza Construction is one of South Florida’s leading full-service general contractors and construction managers. Plaza is known for such prestigious projects as the W South Beach hotel, the 67-story Marquis, and Canyon Ranch North Tower.

Brad Meltzer, principal and president of Plaza’s Southeast region, stated that Plaza is also currently constructing: The Related Group’s $118 million, 42-story Icon Bay waterfront condominium; The Related Group’s $105 million, 42-story Millecento Residences by Pininfarina; 1 Hotel and Homes South Beach, a premier beachfront redevelopment by The LeFrak Organization, Starwood Capital Group, and Invesco Ltd.; and NINE at Mary Brickell Village, a 34-story, 390-unit condominium tower under its $65 million contract with Starwood Capital Group and LYND.
