Philadelphia Experiences Vacancies Ahead of Papal Visit

Despite the hype, a quarter of Philadelphia’s 11,200 hotel rooms are still vacant for the Pope Francis’ visit to the city, according to Delaware Online. This has led many hotels to cute rates and offer incentives to fill the rooms during the weekend, during which Philadelphia anticipates 1 million attendees for the Festival and Families and 1.5 million attending the Papal Mass, reports Philly.com.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter says the city expects many to make a last-minute decision to join in the festivities, potentially leading to more hotel bookings.
