On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Kevin Carey has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). In this role, Carey will oversee operations, member relations and sales, conventions and events, revenue growth initiatives, and will manage the affiliate Educational Institute. He will report to AHLA’s CEO, Katherine Lugar.

Here’s a look at other notable comings and goings that took place this week:

Dream Hotel Group announced two major appointments this week. The company named Cory Ingram as senior vice president of creative and Christian Cooper as vice president of information technology. Ingram will oversee designs for brand imaging, programing, and partnerships. Cooper will lead IT initiatives and the expansion of their 4 brands.

Peachtree Hotel Group has appointed Clint Militzer to general manager of the AC Hotel Atlanta Downtown, the newest design-oriented property in Marriott’s AC Hotels brand. AC Hotels has expanded globally to 8 countries as well as the United States.

CallisonRTKL has promoted Kelly Farrell to executive vice president and Clay Markham to one of eight senior vice presidents. Farrell previously worked as global practice group leader for the workplace and Markham has 30 years of experience in the industry. These promotions are just two of CallisonRTKL’s recently announced 250 global promotions.

Mark Gorgon has been added to the Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) team as vice president of the U.K. and Europe. Gorgon is the first in this position, which entails managing business meetings, conventions, and incentive programs for all of the ALHI European hotels.

Hakkasan Group has announced Gert Kopera as executive vice president. With over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Kopera worked as Dream’s Chief Operating Officer prior to Hakkasan. As executive vice president, Kopera will oversee the group’s portfolio of restaurants and global expansion.

Greystone Hotels has appointed Scott Ostrander to general manager of Hotel Griffon. Ostrander brings 25 years of experience to Greystone and has general manager experience from The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center. Ostrander has held the general manager position in 3 other hotels over his career.

Arash Azarbarzin has been announced as president and chief operating officer of Proper Hospitality, a company that designs, brands, and operates high-end luxury hotels. Azarbarzin will oversee the launch of multiple properties in the upcoming 18 months for the California-based company.

Craig Lovett has been appointed as vice president of development for Trinity Investments, LLC., a private real estate investment firm. Lovett has 29 years of design and development experience that he brings to the position. Before Trinity, Lovett worked as vice president of design and development for Prince Resorts Hawaii.

AC Hotel Chicago Downtown has named Sara Davis-Zapata as general manager of the Marriott brand. Davis-Zapata has general manager experience from the Raffaelo Hotel in Chicago that she will bring to AC Hotels. With 226 rooms, the AC Hotel Chicago Downtown is located right next to the Magnificent Mile.
