On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Michael Minchin has joined Auberge Resorts Collection as the company’s chief marketing officer. Minchin is a 30-year veteran who has led global teams for major brands in the hotel, residential, restaurant, spirits, and automotive industries. In his new role, Minchin will lead Auberge’s national and resort sales teams and oversee all brand marketing initiatives, including advertising, public relations, e-commerce, and social media.

Here’s a look at more notable comings and goings that took place in hospitality this week:

Brookfield Hotel Properties has announced that Steve Davino has been appointed general manager of The Vintage Estate in Yountville, Calif. Davino has over two decades of hospitality experience and in his new position will oversee all aspects of the estate, including its two luxury hotels, the Vintage Inn and the Villagio Inn & Spa.

HRI Lodging and River’s Edge Hotel & Spa have named Heather McGuire director of sales for their 99-room boutique hotel in Portland. McGuire most recently served as national sales director of the Skamania Resort and Lodge.

Benchmark Hospitality International has appointed Nicholas Church executive chef for Chaminade Resort & Spa. Church is a culinary veteran with over 20 years of experience who has returned to the Chaminade having previously serving as the hotel’s sous chef.

Additionally, Benchmark Hospitality International has appointed Kirsten Ponza director of food and beverage for Chaminade Resort & Spa. Ponza has previously held the roles of executive chef, executive sous chef, and pastry chef for the resort.

Bardessono Hotel & Spa has introduced Jeff Gillis as the new director of food and beverage for the hotel and its signature restaurant, Lucy. Gillis has over 15 years of experience to guide him as he establishes culinary guest services.

Jose Torres has been named general manager for Los Sueños Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort for Marriott International. With over 18 years in the hospitality industry, Torres will be responsible for guest satisfaction and managing day-to-day operations.

Susan Phillips has been appointed spa director for Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa. Phillips joins the company with more than 17 years of expertise in luxury resort and spa operations.

Wright Heerema Architects has appointed Richard (Rick) H. Fawell, AIA, IIDA, NCARB, as principal. Fawell will be responsible for leading and growing the firm’s hospitality and mixed-use practice, directing conceptual and design development, and client and team coordination and management.

Hyatt Regency Austin has welcomed Ted Hill as its new executive chef. Hill will oversee all of the culinary operations at Hyatt Regency Austin, including banquets and catering, as well as the hotel’s two restaurants, Southwest Bistro and Marker 10, and the sushi bar.
