On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Sbe Hotel Group announced the appointment of Jason Hsiang as senior vice president of development. Hsiang will pursue management contracts and investment opportunities throughout the United States and select international markets, and in his newly created role will oversee the expansion of all Sbe hotel brands.

Here’s a look at more notable comings and goings that took place in hospitality this week:

Jimmy Chamberlin of the Grammy-winning band Smashing Pumpkins is partnering with AlliedPRA to serve in an advisory role for headline entertainment programs for the destination management company. A portion of the proceeds will initially support the National Coalition for Literacy, a non-profit organization, and participating AlliedPRA clients will be publicly recognized for their support.

Accor Hotels announced that Amir Nahai, CEO of group food and beverage, is now responsible for the group’s entire procurement activity. Nahai will also be responsible for the procurement departments of each country where AccorHotels operates.

Anita Rahman has been named director of sales and marketing at Grand Hyatt San Francisco. She brings 16 years of experience to the position.

The Knickerbocker has appointed Shawn Hauver as the new managing director of the New York City landmark hotel. The 30-year hospitality veteran will be responsible for overseeing overall operations and guest satisfaction for the 330-room luxury hotel.

Marco Polo Hotels has announced the appointment of Philip Schaetz as vice president, sales and marketing, following the promotion of Dr. Jennifer Cronin as president of the company last month. Schaetz is a 20-year hospitality veteran who was previously serving as vice president of revenue management and distribution for the Minor Hotel Group Ltd in Thailand.

Anne R. Lloyd-Jones has been promoted to senior managing director of HVS. With more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Anne will play a crucial role in the management of HVS’s valuation practice in the U.S., helping to set important policies and valuation standards and overseeing the development of the firm’s industry-leading methods for analysis and report design.

Canyon Ranch has named Thomas Klein chief operating officer, succeeding the retiring Peter Smith, effective April 2016. In his new role, Klein will spearhead the growth period for Canyon Ranch as the brand expands globally with the opening of Canyon Ranch Wellness Report at Kaplankaya in July 2016, launches a new bath and body collection, and undergoes renovations to its existing wellspring resorts.

Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel has appointed Dianne Pepe as director of sales and marketing, scheduled to open spring 2016. Pepe will manage all sales and marketing initiatives surrounding the launch of the 348-room hotel.

Jackie Edmonds has been named regional director of sales for Hotel Equities’s regional office in Plano, Texas. With more than 25 years of experience, Edmonds works with a definitive number of properties in the Hotel Equities’ portfolio to assist, support, and direct the sales efforts in those hotels, as well as conduct training for the director of sales at their respective hotels.
