On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

G6 Hospitality has appointed John Valletta as vice president with oversight of enterprise franchise operations. With more than 40 years of industry experience, Valletta most recently served as brand president for Super 8. He has also held brand leadership roles with Howard Johnson and Travelodge, as well as regional operations roles with Prime Hospitality and La Quinta.

Here is a look at more notable career moves that took place this week:

Wyndham Hotel Group has named Lisa Borromeo Checchio vice president of brand marketing. She previously served as a JetBlue Airways executive, where she helped with marketing and advertising for the airline.

Skytop Lodge Corporation has announced the appointment Jeffrey Rudder as general manager of the resort in Skytop, Pa., effective Sept. 1. Most recently, Rudder served as the resort’s director of sales and marketing. He came to Skytop from the Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa where he was the director of sales and marketing.

The Mani Brothers Real Estate Group (MBRG) will welcome Gregory Day to the team on Sept. 9 as president of luxury hospitality. Day, the former general manager of Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, Calif., will also serve as the general manager of the firm’s Malibu Beach Inn.

One&Only Resorts has announced Ed Brea as general manager for One & Only Hayman Island in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. An industry veteran, Brea has held key positions with Hyatt and Shangri-La.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts has appointed Gerald Rappaport general manager of the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City, Okla. He previously worked as general manager of the Hotel Phillips in Kansas City, Mo.

Steve Santomo has been named senior vice president of Destination Rental Management for Destination Hotels. He has more than 30 years of franchise and independent operations experience, most recently holding the role of area managing director of operations for Destination Hotels’ 400 condominium rentals and nine homeowner associations in Snowmass Village, Colo.

Carillon Miami Beach has named Ronel Corbin executive vice president of health, wellness, & spa. A wellness spa expert, Corbin served as U.S. senior vice president for ESPA International.

John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Becky Vealey to general manager for the company’s owned and operated Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center in South Dakota. An 18-year veteran of the company, Vealey most recently served as director of sales and marketing for Embassy Suites by Hilton Nashville SE – Murfreesboro.

Spire Hospitality has added three seasoned hospitality executives to its team. Dick Turner has been named vice president of operations; Dennis Lanners has been named vice president of food & beverage; and Tim Corder has been appointed regional director of sales & marketing. Turner previously founded Auctus Hospitality Partners. Before joining Spire Hospitality, Lanners was vice president of food & beverage for Winegardner & Hammons, Inc. Corder most recently served as taskforce director of sales & marketing for Interstate Hotels and Resorts.
