Novotel New York Times Square To Debut $85 Million Renovation

NEW YORK—Novotel New York in Times Square will undergo a $85 million revamp financed by the owners, real-estate asset management companies Charters Lodging Group LLC and Apollo Global Management LLC. Led by the design firm Stonehill and Taylor, the complete renovation will include a new restaurant, Supernova, and an outdoor Terrace, offering views of Times Square. Novotel, Accor’s North American flagship brand, will continue to welcome guests throughout the renovation, which is scheduled for completion in September 2013.

The renovation of Novotel New York is the first hotel in Times Square to undergo a large-scale redesign in quite some time. The work will reposition the hotel for young, fresh, hip, and edgy clientele that are drawn to the city for both business and leisure pursuits. The hotel arrival experience will feature ambient sound, video art, purposeful materials, and lighting. Computer-controlled hexagonal LED ceiling panels will illuminate in different colors, complementing changing music and sounds throughout the day. Each of Novotel New York’s 480 guestrooms will adopt the hotel brand’s contemporary “Next Room” design theme.

“We can’t wait to debut the ‘new’ Novotel New York this fall, and look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests to experience an unrivaled view of Times Square,” said Marc Sternagel, general manager. “The revived look of the hotel, combined with Supernova restaurant and our stunning Terrace, will offer locals and visitors alike a reason to create their own New York memories.”
