Marriott Opens First Hotel in Sochi, Russia

SOCHI, Russia—Marriott International has opened a luxury ski and spa hotel under its signature brand, Marriott Hotels, at the heart of the new Gorky Gorod ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana. The five-star Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel is positioned at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains within walking distance of world-class ski slopes. The hotel is operated by an affiliate of U.S.-based Interstate Hotels and Resorts.

“We are very proud to open the first Marriott hotel in Sochi and be part of the development of the region, which will continue in 2014 and beyond,” said Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe.

Spread over seven floors, the hotel’s 428 rooms and suites are inspired by natural materials and come with complimentary internet and plasma TV with satellite reception. The River Café, the hotel’s centerpiece restaurant, serves international cuisine with European, American, Russian, and Asian influences. Italian pastas, risottos, pizzas, and an extensive wine list can be enjoyed at The L’Olivio restaurant. Guests can also dine or sit with a glass of wine on the restaurant terraces, which provide views of the mountains.

One of the largest in the region, the SOUL spa is spread across 2,000 square meters and houses nine treatment rooms, including private spa suites.

  1. I’m Andrew, I would really like to have a subscription to Lodging magazine, but I don’t run a hotel or anything. But I am working on going back to school to get my hotel management degree.

    Thank You,
