Interstate Hotels Welcomes Summer Interns

ARLINGTON, Va.—Interstate Hotels & Resorts is dedicated to training the next generation of hospitality professionals. Welcoming the 2016 class of interns this June, the company provides a hands-on understanding of the industry.

An ideal and powerful platform for students to learn from industry leaders, develop a large and lasting professional network, and gain on-the-job experience, the summer internship program is a complete immersion into Interstate’s culture. Gaining valuable experience for future career searches, the Company elevates interns a step above their peers.

“As an industry leading company, we are invested in the next generation of hospitality leaders by offering experiential and innovative learning programs for interns,” said Jim Abrahamson, chief executive officer of Interstate. “Interstate’s summer internship program allows talented students to capitalize on their potential and discover countless ways to learn, thrive and grow their future careers.”

Students are able to tailor their internship experience with their choice of challenging tracks. Through the Rotational Hotel Operations Internship, interns are engaged and educated in all corresponding aspects of hotel operation; they may also choose a track that appeals more specifically to their career interests in either rooms, including the front office and housekeeping departments, or food and beverage. No matter the focus, interns are guaranteed a constant challenge and opportunity to explore new ideas. To assist in capitalizing on their own personal potential, each intern is provided a team of experienced mentors, including their Intern Mentor, Department Head, and Corporate Office Representative. These mentors guide interns at both their host hotel and Interstate’s corporate office, ensuring all resources and tools are available to guarantee maximum benefit from the internship program.
