IHG to launch first Hotel Indigo in Indonesia

JAKARTA—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak in Indonesia with PT Bali Perkasa Sukses—a subsidiary of PT Agung Podomoro Land Tbk (APLN), one of the largest real estate developers in Indonesia. The 280-key resort will be the first for the brand on the popular holiday island of Bali, featuring both rooms as well as villas.

Expected to open in 2015, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak is located in the island’s colourful Seminyak district and situated along one of Bali’s popular beachfronts.

“Our development site is one of the last remaining sizeable beachfront pieces of land in the popular Seminyak district,” said Trihatma Kusuma Haliman, president and chief executive of APLN. “Choosing the right partner to bring this property to life is critical to its future success. IHG with the Hotel Indigo brand was the perfect fit.”

Bali continues to draw travellers from all over the world with 2.9 million overseas visitors recorded in 2012, a 4.3% increase from the previous year.

Clarence Tan, COO South East Asia and Resorts, IHG said: “The popularity of Bali amongst domestic and overseas visitors as well as the airport expansion makes it an ideal time to extend the IHG brand family to one of South East Asia’s most popular holiday destinations.

Hotel Indigo is new to South East Asia. With just over 50 hotels globally, the Hotel Indigo brand will make its debut in the region with the Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road which is due to open in 2014. The resort will join two existing IHG hotels in Bali, InterContinental Bali and Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali.
