Dorchester Collection to Manage Rome’s Hotel Eden

LONDON—Dorchester Group Limited has acquired the 121-room Hotel Eden from Starman Hotels. Effective from September 18, Dorchester Collection will manage the hotel and continue to work closely with the previous management company, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, to ensure a smooth transition for hotel guests, partners, and employees.

Commenting on the transaction, Christopher Cowdray, chief executive officer of Dorchester Collection, said: “Hotel Eden is an exciting addition to our portfolio as it is one of the world’s most majestic and iconic hotels in a truly superb setting. Its landmark status, heritage and individuality complement the style and locations of our other nine hotels in the UK, France, Switzerland, Italy and the US. A presence in Rome, one of the epicenters of classicism, additionally creates synergies with our hotel in Milan, Hotel Principe di Savoia. We are delighted to welcome Hotel Eden’s employees into the Dorchester Collection family.”

Originally built in 1834 and converted to a hotel in 1889, Hotel Eden is one of Rome’s most celebrated hotels and popular amongst royalty, heads of states and celebrities, as well as international travelers. It will undergo a careful restoration to enhance the heritage of the building and to reposition the hotel at the forefront of the luxury hotel market in keeping with Dorchester Collection’s portfolio. The timing and scale of this major restoration are currently being established.
