Wyndham Team Rappels 21 Stories for Addiction Awareness

PARSIPPANY, N.J.—As part of the largest team to ever participate in the ‘Shatterproof Challenge’ to raise funds and awareness for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of addiction, Wyndham Hotel Group President and CEO Geoff Ballotti and a team of 26 Wyndham associates rappelled 21 stories in support of Shatterproof, a national organization committed to protecting children from addiction to alcohol or other drugs. The Shatterproof Challenge Rappel New Jersey event is one of over 20 fundraising events being held across the country this year. The Wyndham team joined approximately 80 participants who committed to raise the minimum $1,000 requirement to rappel in an East Rutherford, N.J., event near Wyndham’s Parsippany, N.J., headquarters. Wyndham team members have raised over $26,000 to date for Shatterproof through individual and company-wide fundraising events. Hilton Awards Travel with Purpose Action Grants

MCLEAN, Va.—Hilton Worldwide is awarding more than $280,000 to 100 Hilton Worldwide properties and community organizations around the world as part of its Travel with Purpose Action Grant program. The grants are intended to support the development of local projects and strengthen the quality of life in the communities in which Hilton Worldwide’s hotels and offices serve. Now in its third year, the program has awarded more than $500,000 to nearly 200 community projects around the world. All of Hilton’s more than 4,350 managed, franchised, owned, and leased hotels and timeshare properties, as well as offices, were eligible to develop and submit a project for consideration. This year, 420 teams developed applications to support local projects that provide unique engagement opportunities for local teams and creative approaches to address social and environmental challenges. Las Vegas Sands Provides Homeless Youth with Educational Resources

LAS VEGAS—Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced a new corporate citizenship commitment to provide homeless youth in the Las Vegas area increased educational resources and support during the summer school break, when they are at a higher risk to lose focus on their education. Through donations to local service organizations Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) and STREET Teens, LVS will help more homeless teens focus on their academic and professional futures by providing strengthened educational sites and assistance that are available year-round, including technology, personal support, and scholarships. Summer months magnify the challenges homeless youth face because they don’t have the infrastructure of school as a safe haven or educational alternative. Hoplamazian Honored by UJA-Federation’s Hospitality Division

NEW YORK CITY—More than 200 professionals from the hospitality industry gathered to honor Mark S. Hoplamazian, president and CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, at UJA-Federation of New York’s Hospitality Division Cocktail Reception on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at New York Marriott Marquis in New York City. The event raised $400,000 for UJA-Federation’s annual campaign to sustain its network of nearly 100 nonprofits that touch the lives of millions of people each year. Mark S. Hoplamazian was appointed to the Hyatt Hotels Corporation Board of Directors in November 2006 and named president and chief executive officer in December 2006. Prior to holding this position, Hoplamazian served as president of The Pritzker Organization, LLC, (TPO) the principal financial and investment advisor for Pritzker family business interests. During his 17-year tenure with TPO, he served as advisor to various Pritzker family-owned companies, including Hyatt Hotels Corporation and its predecessors. Hilton, Room to Read Continue Education Partnership

SINGAPORE and MCLEAN, Va.–Hilton Worldwide and Room to Read have announced the next step in their shared commitment to create greater access to educational opportunities for youth by extending their partnership for another three years. This renewed partnership enables Hilton Worldwide and Room to Read to support the education of another 600 girls, and directly benefit 26,700 students in Room to Read’s Literacy Program in schools across India and Sri Lanka. In addition, both organizations will spearhead a first-of-its-kind formalized Job Shadowing Program for students of Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program (GEP), which ensures that girls have the skills and support needed to complete their secondary school education. Over the next three years, the program will provide up to 300 GEP participants exposure to various career opportunities within the hospitality industry, and guide them toward various career options, post-graduation.
