Cape Rey Carlsbad Hires Director of Food and Beverage Operations

carlsbadCARLSBAD, Calif.—The newly rebranded Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort, has hired Clifton Carmody as director of food and beverage operations. A 20-year industry veteran who has worked with numerous trend-setting dining venues, Carmody will refine the culinary and entertainment offerings under the new Cape Rey brand and help position the hotel’s ocean view restaurant, Chandler’s.

“Clifton brings a great mix of experience and creativity to Cape Rey,” said Vikram Sood, general manager. “His familiarity with the local beach lifestyle and latest dining trends will be instrumental in enhancing the Chandler’s experience.”

Carmody’s expertise is a product of a lengthy career working for companies like Eat.Sleep.Drink, the lifestyle company behind Tower 23 Hotel in Pacific Beach, Padre Hotel in Bakersfield, and the emerging LakeHouse Hotel and Resort in San Marcos. He also spent time working with Bradley Ogden as director of operations for Ogden’s hospitality group, as well as with flagship locations for Morton’s Restaurant Group, CRAVE America, and Brinker International.

Carmody is a former guest lecturer for the hospitality program at Miami-Dade College. In his free time, he is a devoted meditation and yoga enthusiast and was a volunteer for the Tibetan Cultural Center.
