Marriott's Select Service and Extended Stay Brands Celebrate Top General Managers
Marriott International recognizes that its success is based on the hard-working team of associates it employs all over the world. And last week, the top general managers in the select service and extended stay categories received recognition at an annual award event.
26 general managers, some from as far away as China and Russia, gathered in Washington D.C. for the presentation which took place at the at the Key Bridge Marriott. Prior to the evening festivities, the group was treated to a sightseeing tour of the city that included attractions such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and Marriott headquarters.
Honors for each brand included The Chairman’s Award which is given to the hotel with the highest overall satisfaction scores, General Manager of the Year, Opening Hotel of the Year, Hotel of the Year and Opening General Manager of the Year.
Winners of the Hotel of the Year Award included Courtyard Stockton, Fairfield Inn & Suites Rockford, Residence Inn Baltimore Hunt Valley, SpringHill Suites Vero Beach, and TownePlace Suites St. George.
General Managers of the Year included Erin Edwards from the Courtyard Clemson; Olga Nikitina from the Courtyard by Marriott Moscow City Center; Angela Cooley from the Fairfield Inn & Suites Clovis; Joe Andrick from the Residence Inn Kansas City Overland Park; Joseph Sybrowsky from the SpringHill Suites Rexburg; and Scott Perlmutter from the TownPlace Suites Dallas Desoto.
The awards were presented by Arne Sorenson, president and chief executive officer, Marriott International. Leaders of the Americas, brands, and operations were also in attendance at the event to applaud the general managers.
