Revere Hotel Creates 24-Story Catwalk to Celebrate Launch

4/20/2012 | The Scene
Eye-popping spectacles are not uncommon at hotel grand-opening celebrations around the world. But the Revere Hotel Boston Common took its launch to new heights by installing a 24-story catwalk that scaled the building's facade.

The gravity-defying runway served as a main focal point for the celebration, which was held on Wednesday. The date coincided with the 237-year anniversary of Paul Revere's infamous ride through the streets of Boston at the commencement of the Revolutionary War.

Experienced climbers from Boston Rock Gym acted as models for the sky-high show and strutted down from the roof of the building, secured with
high-tech rappelling rope and form-fitting body harnesses.

The models wore
uniforms designed by students at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, as well as designs from fashion brand Ted Baker London, whose Newbury Street location pays homage to Boston’s rich history.

The uniforms created by MassArt students mark a
unique partnership with the hotel and allowed the students to develop pieces that meet the needs and operational challenges of the property’s doormen, valet, front desk staff, cocktail servers, and other positions.

Revere has taken over the spaces formerly occupied by The Raddison and Stuart Street Playhouse, located in the city's theater district.
