While I was in New York earlier this week, I had the chance, along with
some of my fellow members of the press, to take a hard-hat tour of the
soon-to-open (July) Intercontinental Times Square. The hotel will have
607 keys and 29 suites, and as GM Drew Schlesinger says, “one really
spectacular suite.” (See above.)
First, a little about the hotel: The building is made with natural
woods and marble, and each elevator has different artwork. There will
be a Todd English-run restaurant as well. One of the more interesting
aspects of the guestrooms is that each one has a computer that is
already loaded with Microsoft Office; so theoretically, guests could
leave the laptop at home.
Now, about that spectacular suite…that would be the presidential suite,
which has four bedrooms and two floors, and walls that are nearly all
glass, creating one of the more breathtaking views of Manhattan that
I’ve seen in a while.
